Accident British Tourist Seriously Injured in Thai Waterfall Fall – Family Appeals for Help
This is an important point that too many tourists fail to realize: travel insurance doesn't apply if you are injured while engaged in an illegal or extremely risky activity. Here's another example. The 20-something backpacker son of a friend of mine broke his leg while "urban exploring" in a deserted building in Bangkok. His insurance company refused to cover his medical bills or repatriation back to the U.S. It cost his family $30,000 to pay his medical and legal bills in Thailand and bring him home. His father tried suing the insurance company but the case was thrown out because the son had clearly violated the terms of the policy. -

Crime British and French Tourists Clash in Phuket Nightclub Stabbing
Rescue workers provide first aid to a French man who was stabbed in front of a nightclub in Cherngtalay, Kathu district, Phuket on May 11, 2025. Photo: Khaosod In the early hours of May 11, a night out in Phuket took a violent turn when a French tourist, Mr. Nubel, was brutally attacked outside a popular nightclub. The assault has sparked an international investigation as a British suspect, Mr. Emilio, fled Thailand shortly afterward, leaving his alleged accomplice from the Middle East still at large. The fracas began inside a lively Cherngtalay venue, culminating outside where Mr. Nubel suffered three serious stab wounds to his left waist and back. Initial reports suggest that a dispute escalated into a physical altercation involving four English-speaking foreigners, resulting in the brutal knife attack. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, providing vital first aid before transporting the severely injured Frenchman to Thalang Hospital, where he remains under critical care. Meanwhile, Cherngtalay Police, gathering evidence, discovered a key piece tying Mr. Emilio to the crime—a black iPhone left at the site. The device's SIM card directly linked to Emilio, whose swift exit from Thailand was confirmed through immigration records; he departed on May 11 at around 6:49 p.m. The local police, focusing their efforts, have been intensively searching for the unidentified Middle Eastern accomplice presumed to be hiding in Thailand. This case has shone a spotlight on security measures in Phuket's famous nightlife scene, raising concerns among locals and tourists alike. Authorities are appealing for any witnesses or those with information to step forward, as they work tirelessly to bring all involved to justice. In the wake of the incident, Phuket's international reputation as a safe destination has been put to the test, prompting calls for enhanced safety protocols across tourist hotspots to prevent further violence.
