Looked up my own notes from close to 4 years ago (things may have changed), in a Bangkok suburb, when I obtained yellow book and pink ID ... From different sources, some amphur requires more documents than others 1) Embassy Certified copy of your passport 2) Translation of the Embassy Certified copy of your passport 3) MFA Verified Translation of the Embassy Certified copy of your passport 4) Ownership titles (Blue book) and other proof of ownership 5) 2x Thai Witnesses 6) Proof of Visa status 7) Some claim: birth certificate with parent's name translated marriage certificate copy of wife's Thai ID blue book with wife's name in it passport copies of photo and main page translation of passport copy of extension stamp in passport residence certificate copy of construction permit copy of chanote A yellow book belongs to a property and lists the foreigners who live there. It's not a personal possession, you are simply listed in it (same as bluebook), if you move, you go into another yellow book for the new residence. To go "IN" a yellow book, you first have to complete the alien registration process (This is 90% of the ampher visit and usually involves official translation of name into Thai etc). The alien registration process creates a unique 13 digit Thai ID number, then you can be entered into a yellow book (and various other Thai databases). The 13 digit number then gets you a Pink ID.
