Extension Of Retirement Visa Possible

Featured Replies

I have a one year retirement visa issued from Sahkon Nahkon office that expires on July 27 - 2012

Is is possible to get a 90 day extension with this visa, the same as with a type "O" visa? And if so when can it be applied for?

My work rotation makes it hard to renew 30 days or less before it expires and I'll be out of the country when it does expire causing problems flying in on a one way ticket.

No you can not extend 90 days for retirement but even if you could you claim you will not be here so how do you think it would be different than the normal one year extension? Or are you thinking about a 90 day entry that a visa allows? In any case the answer is no. Immigration might allow extending a bit earlier than 30 days if you show need. Otherwise you would have to start over with a 90 day non immigrant entry (which may be impossible if working full time).

I'm scheduled to fly out on June 30, so if it's possible to renew the retirement visa with a 30 day lead time that gives me a couple of days to play with. Or is it possible to renew earlier than 30 days?

Just wondering if there was the 90 day extension like the type O which you say there isn't.

It would have made things a little less hectic

They will usually process a little early if you have a good reason

There is normally no problem doing retirement extension at the last moment as it is a local decision taken on the day you apply so you should be OK unless a problem at that specific office.
