Hi all

Of course, like any other good TV-Member I used the search-function.

Only one thread http://www.thaivisa....ng#entry5319239 was related to Chiang Mai. The one reply(#8) that mentioned "galvanizing" was not answered.

But I hope I may get replies with an independent post.

I am thinking of fence elements 2,5m*1,2m, grid distance about 10-15cm.

Does anybody knows - or better: can recommend - a shop, who might be able to galvanize these fence elements?

Thanks a lot to all useful answers

Alternatieve, you can search for cold galvanized spray, the quality is almost same (that is what they write) hot dip galvanized.

Sorry to disagree, my experience is hot galvanised will last years where as cold gal will last maybe a few years before the rust will show thru.. Look at powder coating the metal if you can't find hot dip galvanising. Powder coating will scratch tho but you should be able to specify a whole range of colours. The plus for cold gal is that you can apply more coats by brush when the rust appears and it can be used if there are any alterations made (welding, drilling etc).

Thanks to cmbe and xen.

I was still hoping somebody could recommend a shop for galvanizing here in CM. So it seems there is no shop or the customers are not satisfied.

Powder coating appears to be an alternative. I asked in a shop on the 1006 close to the river ping (of course, my wife was asking) they were not interested in working with fence elements.

Cold galvanized spray -sorry, I go with xen, this seems to be more like a painting with zinc inside.

Still to select between the two proposals of my construction manager: painting the steel elements of a fence or open concrete wall annoyed.gif

spot on! galvafroid paint is really for on site touching up after the factory galvanising process, where components say as a staircase, still need to be assembled. As above it does not last but it the best solution to hide the small on site weld burns.

but never use as a replacement for hot dip galv.
