Thai Marriage Visa

Featured Replies

can anyone give me some advise . i am married to a thai lady and want to get a a marriage visa . what is the best procedure ? i have a bank account in my name .and i read that i must have 400000 baht in my account . must the money be in my account for 2 months before i come to thailand. do i need a o visa first before i come to thailand . and can i book a one way ticket to thai if i get the o visa? i someone can help .

Arrive with a Non Imm O Visa if possible.

The Consulate in Hull will issue one by post.

A one way ticket will be OK.

Deposit at least 400,000 Baht in your Thai bank.

When the money has been in the bank for 2 months you can apply for a 12 month extension.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Letter from your Thai Bank showing balance and up to date bank book.

OR.

Letter from your Embassy showing income. Now may also need proof of income as back up.

Marriage Certificate

Marriage Registry entry.

Wife's Tabbien Baan and ID Card.

Your Passport.

Copies of everything.

Photos of you and your Wife in and around the house.

A map showing the way to your house.

Passport size photos and 1,900 Baht fee.

Take your Wife to be interviewed.

You will be given a 30 day under consideration stamp.

Go back in a month and get the remainder.

With the O visa entry you will not have a problem with one-way flight and receive a 90 day stay so you can meet the 2 months in account requirement (does not have to be before coming to Thailand) during that time period as you apply for the extension during the last 30 days of the 90 day stay. This is for an extension of stay - not for a visa.

For the visa, non immigrant O - you should have marriage certificate/copy and copy of wife ID card or passport in UK but if done in Asia it may also require copy of home register. You only need single entry visa if you can meet the financial requirements for extension of stay.

I have found over the years that using this site for visa questions compaired to any other site is priceless. IMO you can rest assured that you will get the most up to date and complete information needed to make your decisions.

To be clear, the money doesn't have to be in the account for two months when you apply for the visa itself. It needs to be in the account for two months, in a bank account in Thailand in your name only, the moment you apply for an extension of stay at immigration in Thailand. (Which you can do from 60 days from the day you entered Thailand).
