Live In Thailand For One Year

Featured Replies

Hello,

I hope I'm not repeating any previous question made,

My case is simple if you could help me by pointing to the right visa since there are so many.

1)

I would like to live in thailand for at least one year, with possibility of traveling around (contries near thailand)

I would do probably do small work, free-lancer stuff on internet, websites, programs... Something that I could earn some money and have free time.

So with this type of work I would not get work permit.

2)

If option one is not possible, I'm considering applying to "real" job, in a IT company probably. In this case I would get the work permit...

So basically I only have doubts on 1)

Thanks for any information,

Regards,

Andre

If you work even for free you need a workpermit.

you can't work on a touristvisa.

Per above, working requires a work permit and a Thai employer. The Thai labour law was not set up with working over the internet in mind.

You can only get a work permit if you have an employer and have the right visa (non-immigrant visa category "B").

If you want to work, come to Thailand on a tourist visa and look for an employer here. If you don't want to work, get a double entry touist visa, which is good for 180 days. You might get another double entry tourist visa in a nieighbouring country, giving you almost 1 year.

A 3 entry tourist visa would give you almost 9 months of stay (60 days plus 30 day extension X3) without getting a new visa which should be available in your home country without a problem.
