How Long Is Ed Visa Good For?

Featured Replies

I have enrolled in language school and now have a letter to take to the Thai consulate to obtain a visa.

The language school says I need to come back to the school within 30 days. Is that 30 days from when the visa is issued by the consulate or 30 days from when I enter Thailand?

Thanks

I believe your ED visa should be for 90 days, and starts counting from the day you enter Thailand. The school is saying that you have to come back to to them within 30 days, not immigration. Suggest you contact the school to determine what the 30 day thing is about.

I assume that after you arrive in Thailand with your non-ED visa you will want to study at the school where you have enrolled and get extensions of stay based on that. The school will need some time to get the paperwork together for your application for extension of stay and I suggest that you should not unduly delay the start of your studies, ie your going back to the school, after your arrival in Thailand so that the school will have the necessary attendance record it needs for the paperwork.

I got it all sorted it. Bino, you were correct, thank you. New, but related question. So the language school I'm going to says it can be renewed up to 3 years. I think the Wallen website says up to 10 years...what's the official rule?

It depends on the classification/approval of the school. Some are approved for more levels as others.

But one can always change from example a study Thai to another study.
