Yahoo Instead Of Skype

I looked into Yahoo's net2phone service. This is an 'equivalent' to Skype, which allows computer to computer calling and also computer to phone just as Skype has.

Since Skype's fiendishly clever business plan doesn't allow customers to give them money, reverse psychology maybe??? :o I invested $25 and tried a test phone call with the Yahoo service. Worked like a charm. Makes you wonder if Skype will catch on to this new concept of accepting money for their service.

So I will use Skype for free computer to computer calls since so many people have Skype's system installed but will use Yahoo for making computer to phone calls. Seems skype's rates are better than yahoo's for int'l calling but actually couldn't find the rate/country listing. I'm sure it's there somewhere but I didn't find it during my first experience with Net2phone.

The whole user interface didn't seem as intuitive as Skypes, probably because it's encapsulated in the Yahoo messenger system but it's quite usable.

I understand msn also has a similar offering but didn't bother investigating it since I have been using yahoo for many years.

Anybody else moved over to the Yahoo Net2phone or msn service from Skype? Be interesting to hear your experiences. Phone quality, etc.

I always used to find that the sound quality of yahoo wasn't a patch on Skype.Has it changed?

Actually I'm not sure what you mean "sound quality of yahoo wasn't a patch on Skype".

The sound quality when I called a buddies mobile phone in the US was ok, but I only made one test call. When did you use it (the Yahoo service)?

I have been useing dialpad.com since they were free. Yahoo just recently bought them out and have merged net2phone. I think they are building some kind of super network to take a shot at Skype.

Which was the service that became the "voice service" that Yahoo has today?

Anybody know how long Yahoo has had this voice addition to their messenger service?

Any comments on computer to phone (like Skype out) quality?

I add $$$ to my skype accound in just a couple clicks. You may need to look harder.

The problem I have with Skype is credit card rejection. I know some people have success but many many many people get declined. Other threads on TV detailing peoples failures with getting Skype to accept their money. Even people that go to the bank to tx money to skype can only tx 10 Euros at a time. That's a big pain in the arse.

The YahooOut rates are way higher than SkypeOut but if I'm stuck somewhere without my mobile, at least I can make calls.
