I would ask if anyone knows whether it is possible to to get a 1 year extension on a Type 'O' visa based on marriage to a Thai without the 'Affirmation of Freedom to Marry' (issued by British Embassy), as asked for on the Thai Immigration website? I do not have this now as it was given to the marriage office and no copy was kept by us. I do of course have the Marriage Certificate and another form from the Thai office showing both my wife and my status before marriage. Iam in yhe UK at the moment so have not approached the Immigration authorities yet. Thanks for any ideas.

I assume you are talking about para 11

Evidence certified by the applicant's embassy or consulate showing the applicant's marital status.

I never had any such document years ago but if something is now required I suspect all that would be needed would be a statement that your are married notorized by your Embassy. Perhaps others that have recently started the support Thai wife extension of stay can provide current information?

Thanks for your quick reply. The site I was reading was www.thaiimmigration.com. Under the 'Application for temporay stay in the Kingdom in the case of being a foreign husband supporting a Thai wife' It says that documentary evidence for consideration of approval at paragraph 4: Marriage Certificate and if married in Thailand the letter of certificate issued by Embassy at time of wedding stating previous marital status.
