bangkokheat
I would have thought that the level of corruption in this country and the ones involved would be defacing thailand, no comparison to allegations against gaga
americaninbangkok
Well, this is what the Thai govt. does. They waste people's time, money, and welfare criticizing crap like this, instead of enacting corruption laws, reigning in the out of control military, or doing things that benefit the Thia people. Just another example of "monkey nationalism". At least monkey cheeks is a good idea. But the BS this govt wastes its time on... Basic question: are the Thai citizenry better off today than they were in July 2011? Follow up question: are the Thai politicians better off today than they were in July 2011? Hint: if there is a divergence... ask questions!

americaninbangkok
Another pathetic statement from the culture ministry, how about they do something about her pirated albums or is that just part of the culture? I give you the current Thai Minister of Culture... Sukumol Kunplome. This not a joke. This is the official photo of her on the Thai website: http://thainews.prd....ewscabinet.html This woman should not throw stones? I think she lives in a pretty big glass house! And we all know who her father in law is. Who is he, cookie monster? Looks like she ate the cookies. Looks like she ate the cookie monster! carra
someone asked me once in a conversation 'what do you know about thai culture'? I replied, 'corruption, prostitution, immaturity, lack of common sense, no accountability' Not exactly the answer they wanted but it was good for them to see how other nationalities see it, of course I went on to tell them the good things about thai culture but it is about time this ministry realised exactly how stupid they look when they do things like this. So, did they attack you with steel rods and chunks of wood because you insulted their precious little feelings? why should they?

majhiggins
Lady Gaga is unconventional looking (i mean naturally), but i think she is quite beautiful, interestingly beautiful. Im not a fan much, but i find it laughable that anyone would say shes unattractive. Maybe from guys that only like the conventional barbie doll image. Personally i find men and women who have something different, more character, much more appealing. Keyser, as much as you'd give it your best shot, given what her ex's have looked like, do you really think she would be flattered by your attempts? Right, and as long as she's not fat! animatic
She was hired to do a concert because she IS controversial. That's what she is all about. They got what they wanted. Err, she wasn't "hired" to do anything. Err... she was hired... this was not a benefit concert. I think you will find she hired the venue to perform rather than anyone in thailand hiring her I think you will find a local promotor is the actual hiring party. Her tour directors let word go out regionally that she had dates available on the asian tour, and a local promotor hired her here for that date, meeting her base fee and percent of door requirements. Her show and 2 complete staging systems leapfrog across the areas major cities, as an act for hire, with stipulations. On ticket pricing, size of venue, sound lighting electric draw, and precise number of red jelly beans provided for the main dressing room. Etc. The last a "rider trick" to see if the local promotor sweats the little stuff as well as the biggies. She was hired because she has a base of fans that can fill the space, and for that niche market, she is one of the most salable brands going. If she wasn't pissing off or scaring the likes of Freedom4life, then she wouldn't be doing her job at pleasing her fans, because they WANT to wave that flag at his kind, like a red cape at a bull. Teenage rebellion never goes out of style, it only has to find weirder things to be rebellious with as tie goes on. Daxter
What tarnishes Thailand's image: Lady Gaga displaying the national flag during her concert What does NOT tarnish Thailand's image: fake goods sold at avery street corner (including fake Lady Gaga CDs), pornography on open sale everywhere, double-charging foreign visitors, prostitution wherever you go (some NGOs claim there are over 1 million hookers in this country), inept government with clowns acting as MPs, institutionalised corruption at every level of society, jet ski and gem scams, appalling driving standards frequently resulting in horrible accidents, xenophobia, double standards and hypocrisy, a culture ministry staffed by clowns, a country being led from abroad by a fugitive felon, red shirt/yellow shirt menace, etc., etc. You forgot the piles of rubbish strewn across the countryside, streets and gardens.
