Looks like I will be teaching at a local provincial level college and getting an agreement with them for a year.

Anybody of you knows if they will be able to get a work permit for me or some sort of other authorization to work for them? Anybody got some experience on this?

You must have such a work permit and be here on a non immigrant visa entry to obtain it. Have they not said anything?

Normally it should not be a problem to get a work permit, teaching at a college. You will have to apply for it with the help of the school. But the exact type of school does matter, it is a real college (like a rajabat university) or more like for instance a local technical school.

A University type of school (higher education) doesn't require a teaching license, where a regular school will require one (or a waiver).

As said, also the type of visa you entered Thailand on will matter.

Yes, it is a real college (witayalai), actually community college. Well, they said that they can arrange something (without specifiying 'work permit') but they seem not to have much experience. As I am living in a real small place (meaning everybody does know what I do), don't want to take any chances and thought of inquiring with you guys, if it is not worth the potential hazzle will just drop it as it is financially not interesting.

I am on a non-immigrant visa (thai wife) since a while already, suppose at the immigration they can change that without me having to go oversees and applying for another visa first.

If you are on an extension based upon marriage you don't have to do anything with immigration, You can get a work permit and work without a problem.

I believe no teaching license is required for that, so that is one thing less to worry about and should make it easier to get a work permit.

Have the college contact the local labour office, they will need some forms from the labour office any way to apply for a work permit. It isn't that difficult, other then it is probably the first time they apply for a work permit.
