If you knew GarryP, you'd know he is more likely to wear it as a badge of honour.

All I'm saying is that yes obviously there is plenty of hostility in posts on this forum, but there are limits in place already to control posters who actually become abusive. Of course that happens. Again, the report button is there and it works, and a poster's suggestion that the button doesn't function beggars belief. I find this entire thread silly, really, people will post as they want, there are rules already in place, if you get abused and you don't choose to use the tools in place to deal with it, that's your doing.

Disagreeing with someone's opinion is one thing, and it's fine, so long as there is logic and intelligence behind the words. The problem I have is that there are far too many comments that offer nothing intelligent to the thread and seem there only to be nasty or insulting.

You think there are bullies on an anonymous webforum? I'm intrigued - genuinely - that you would think so.

And to repeat - I completely get aneliane's point that online bullying has caused suicides amongst teenagers, but that is ALWAYS when the victim knows the attackers and it is just an extension of real bullying done using an online medium.

There's a little group that follow their victims from thread to thread, it's bullying or stalking of some sort.

I'm not particularly bothered by it, but is certainly unpleasant and anti-social behavior.

I also find it a bit funny that two of the worst offenders come on this thread to complain about their own behaviour.

You gotta be bloody joking! IMO you are one of the most impolite posters around here, with a ME, ME, ME- attitude. With you at the moment posting about 50 posts a day, it is somekind of way hard to avoid you. May I suggest that you for a couple of days post on the Chiang Rai subforum, and if your anti-social groupies follow you there, I'll will agree you could have a stalkingcase. Right may I suggest we call a halt to these personal attacks. Half of the entertainment on this forum are the battles that we have but this is turning into an outrageous flame fest.

There are times that soi41 irritates the life out of me and times that he is very witty and entertaining. Same goes with Aneliane, and I've recently had a serious battle with Jingthing among others. I only bring them to the fore as they are active on this thread, it's not to flame them, so let me say something now...............

To Soi41, Aneliane, and Jingthing.............I often find you to be genuinely entertaining, witty and funny. Jingthing was involved in a thread last week about weight issues and the depth of knowledge and passion that he put into it was superb. I've had a few chuckles at soi41's witticism's in the last few days and Aneliane will be amazed to hear that I look forward to reading her slant on things.

Stop taking everything so personal, and if you think it is getting personal sit back, have a think about it, and come back with a one liner.

We're not always right, we're not always wrong, sometimes the fact that we are using emoticons and the restrictive implications of communicating on the internet causes misunderstandings. So chill out and remember we're being watched by thousands of guests every day.

As for Smokies point............it's a disgrace that people feel intimidated, the more people that post the merrier. It's up to us established members to make new members feel welcome...........in the last few months we have seen some superb new members join the forum, and if I may pick out brit1984 and Edwininclapham, along with David48 for special praise. Encouragement goes a long way, and it takes some time for us to find our voice here, so let people find their voice and let's not scare them away with hostility.
