Quick question. If a person gets an Education visa to go to Thailand for a year, can their family get visas as well or would they also need to sign up at a school to get their own ED visa?

one person per child under 18 or 20 yo can get a "guardian" visa to accompany the ED visa holder.

If talking about adults, I'm afraid everyone must go to school :-)

I thought Piggy backing a visa was only allowed with an extension from within Thailand.

They will need their own visas to enter Thailand.

They might be able to get visa's but according to police order 777/2551 clause 2.20 they will not be able to get an extension of stay because clause 2.9 which covers your extension as a student is not included in 2.20.
