I got a double entry visa on May 1st. Next week I will go to innigration to have a one month extension. My question is: in a month when I'd have to activate the next entry, do I have to get a visa to a nightbouring country, enter the country and then come back to Thailand? or do I just present myself at the border on Thailand side and get the entry?

Yes, you are supposed to enter another country and then return, also make sure to do it before the visa validity(Use By or Before Date) expires.

As said you need to enter another country and return.

Some countries require a Visa to enter and some do not.
