Teeth Whitening In Bangkok

All the dental clinics do it. cost varies not only with the clinic but also the method used, i.e. laser or bleaching. Bleaching is much less expensive, and you have control over the degree of whitening achieved (especially important if you have crowns), but of course takes a little longer. its not a big hassle though and you do it at home at your own convenience.

You could save yourself a lot of money by buying a bottle of 3% hydrogen peroxide and using it as a mouthwash every day. It's not as quick as going to a dentist (they use a stronger solution of hydrogen peroxide), but after about 6 weeks I was surprised how much brighter my teeth were. A bottle of hydrogen peroxide costs 30 Baht at the local chemist and lasts me over a month.

I am a regular patient of Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic in Asoke area. The doctor there is second to no one. I got my teeth laser whitened and it cost me 7500 baht. Its a one time thing and it took around an hour. You can choose to have a home whitening too, this one takes longer like a week but the doctor said the colour would also stay longer and be more even.

Isn't having your teeth whitened very bad for your teeth? I was told it damages the enamel on your teeth. ermm.gif Can anyone confirm this?

I heard that a few times too, but I've also heard that the damage is negligible compared to regular wear and tear. You always hear of more people damaging teeth due to cavities, gingivitis, smoking and attempts at being the next Tony Hawk that need serious dental attention, never from tooth whitening.

I used to use whitening strips on and off back home, but I haven't seen those for sale here...

I actually asked the dentist the very same question and she insisted it doesnt make any harm to your enamel. Peroxide reacts with dark-staining molecule in your tooth and changes its structure which eventually results in color changing.

One thing I was told by my Thai Dentist about the whitening process was that if you have had had a visible filling in your teeth (think a white one) then the bleaching does not lighten that filling.

Accordingly you will have a dark spot where that filling is as it was colour matched to your teeth colour at the time ... before the whitening process.

Similarly if you have Crowns.

Step 1: http://www.google.com (or http://www.google.co.th or http://www.google.ca or whatever)

(Step 1 can be skipped on many browsers by using an often built-in searchbar)

Step 2: type "Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic" (advanced users can copy+paste for speed)

Step 3: hit Search.

Step 4: click first link, http://www.bangkoksmiledental.com/

Step 5: find "Contact Us"

Step 6: find address on page:

SUKHUMVIT 21 BRANCH

32/5 Sukhumvit 21 Wattana Bangkok

PLOENCHIT BRANCH

546/2 Ploenchit Road, Patumwan Bangkok

Advantage vs asking on Thaivisa:

• Much quicker

• Often comes with phone numbers/etc in case you get lost

• Gives you more info (they give you addresses, google map links, printable maps, even public transportation directions!)

• Can be used for many things, not just addresses

• Doesn't get a post like this from me

Honestly, this is for your own good.

Sounds like you're the grumpy old timer if you want to miss out on what Google has to offer. I'm trying to help, seriously.

Last year i had a to get a new crown on an incisor, in fact we decided because of a chip to do both.

I had looked after my teeth and cleaned them perhaps better than most but they had 60 years of coffee tea and 50 of tobacco so not perfect.

So we decided that in preparation for such visible crowns for once in my life I would have a so called laser whitening (I believe there is no laser involved, just a UV bulb, but it sounds good) so everything could be as white as reasonable.

So they do the root canal and do the laser and my teeth are very nice and white and a day or two later I go in for my next appointment.

Thankfully I learned a little bit in the interim, including the fact that the whiteness rebounds.......IOW you lose a degree of it varying with the person. It can be quite a lot of rebound and if I remember it takes about ten days.

So when I go back they start getting out the colour cards.

I said hang on, I have just read about rebound and that it takes maybe ten days for the colour to settle down.

Why would you take the colour match now before they've darkened off to their final colour.

"Oh yes that's true.........well.......perhpas we could wait."

And we did wait and they did get a bit less white, (though there was still a considerable overall effect).

They otherwise did a great job but I was gobsmacked at the unintelligence of it, this is so obvious, and I'm afraid it added to my previous conclusion that you really have to keep an eye on even professionals out here.

There are so many dentists in Bangkok, and of various skill and character. I'm looking for one myself and found this article on teeth whitening prices and clinics in both Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui and Pattaya. http://www.novasans.com/articles/teeth-whitening-thailand/

According to the article, the price for a conventional teeth whitening that you do at home is only 5,000 THB, while if you want to do a Laser Teeth whitening it's 7,500 THB. Still very cheap compared to what I pay in Sweden.

The article also recommends some dental clinics in Phuket and Bangkok, which you can contact directly on their website.

I've booked a dental check-up with Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic on Friday and hope that the dentist is good.

I use the dentist at Esplanade at the Thai Cultural Center MRT stop. She speaks good English & I was pleased with the whitening I got done. She made a cast of my teeth which you get back in a few days from the lab. You add the peroxide solution and wear the fitted tooth guard at home; do it as long as you like until you achieve the desired whiteness. It cost about 5000 TBH about 3 years ago.

This is very timely as I just had a session of the Plasma Cool Light at Thantakit Dental. Good thing it's currently on promo! I really needed this for the stains on my incisors. Been wanting this since last year but have always postponed it. This is way better and less risky than the usual laser teeth whitening. I think, as long as you avail this treatment at a reputable dental place, you won't really have any serious problems.

I got my teeth whitening done at Bangkok Hospital. Yes, I could have paid way less money. I maybe when to 4 other places before picking Bangkok hospital. Bangkok hospital doesn't cut corners like the others would have. Youtube teeth whitening so you can see the way it's done. So,you know what to expected before you walk into the office. First, get your teeth cleaned and wait at less a week before going back to have them whiten. If someone tell's you they can clean and then whiten your teeth that should be a red flag to me. I paid 9,000 baht at bangkok hospital. It turn out great!.
