happysanook
The $149 Kindle boasts "Free 3G"... Anybody have luck with that working in Thailand in areas with 3G service..?
happysanook
Answering my own question after some research. Sounds like the global version connects to Thailand's 3G no problem.
harrry
Where there is no 3g it connects at low speed.
1huahin
Yes 3g works here but having your kindle on-line drains the battery very quickly I keep mine off line until I need to download a book otherwise I would be forever charging the battery.
lukey1979
It works in areas without 3G too. I download in Surin on an Edge connection all the time.
happysanook
Are you able to check your email and/or surf the net when on the 2g/3g connection? I'm reading conflicting reports... Some saying you can only connect to amazon services and download books, but not check email or browse... other sources say no problem...
dddave
The older Kindle 3G models with the physical keyboard could browse the net but the newer models access only the kindle store and are locked out of the net.
lukey1979
I hope they keep the old 3g kindle on the shelves. If my current one died on me God forbid, its the only model I like! If you travel alot then it is a must!
Artisi
Anyone know where I can get a Kindle (keyboard) looked at, it has an operating fault, is there any service centre or someone capable of looking at it in Thailand? Thanks.

Thanks. It could be worth getting in touch with the service centre on the Amazon website. They just replaced a Kindle dx two years old with a faulty battery free including shipping and customs. Artisi
Thanks for the replies, have just finished talking with Amazon and as the kindle is well out of warranty the best they can do is a "discounted" pric on a new unit.
