Airport / Cityline Having Problems?

Noticed this last month that the airport / cityline is having more delays and and fallouts. There is a change of the schedule everyday and if one asks the staff at the stations nobody seems to know and pretends everything is allright.

Anyone have any idea what is going on or are the tracks or vehicles broken?

Some people were waiting for nearly 2 hours last night because the cityline trains (3 carriages) were completely full. Meanwhile the express train (4 carriages) were rolling by with about 20 passengers on them.

I always use the express service. Its only 90 baht.

But not much use if you are one of the people that wants to get on/off at a station that the express doesn't stop at.

I.E. 99.99999999% of ARL passengers.

They had Maintenance problems some months ago because the Carbon Brushes on the overhead electrical pickup system were wearing out far more quickly than expected and spares were taking time to come from Siemens - may be a repeat of that problem?

I think it's only a matter of time before the Express Service is discontinued in favour of more regular City Line services. The Express Service is underutilised and thus must be losing money - in addition it causes scheduling problems because the two services are using the same line so the Operator cannot run more of the far more popular City Line trains.

The sucks totally, because they used to have a 12 minute schedule in rush hour times which okay, then now they switched to evry 15 minutes and hell breaks lose and people cannot board train because they are just too full. They should utilize the express train as a Cityline.

Some unexpected problems:

- more and more commuters are using the Airport Link

- break-parts, carbon brushes are parts that should be in stock, but they aren't

The German supplier suggested a proper training and a certain minimum stock of parts for maintenance, but of course.......the Thai don't need any training "looh laew" and parts? "Mai mee" is a magical word.
