Everyone is avoiding PoiPet at the moment due to long waiting time as Busloads of Thai n Asian Gamblers need to be cleared n the hassle by touts ,addl fees etc .

If you do a VR by private car here are the distances : BKK-Poi Pet –BKK = 500 km n BKK-Ban Laem-BKK = 620 km .

Be aware even you come independently to Ban Laem(Thailand) / Daung(Cambodia) , you also have to use a Visaagent on the Camboside , this will add 100-200.- THB to the 1,000.- Visa Fee . Best is to arrange Visa via the Cambo Embassy , USD 20.- only .If you need driving direction or more info pls PM me.

Best is to leave BKK from 08.00-8.30AM onwards because then you avoid the normal VR Groups from BKK n Pattaya . At the border you can buy some Duty Free items , not more than legal limit as police do spotchecks .

You need appr 4 hour one way n turnaround time at border is 30-45 minutes .
