Did it three years ago Doppa via the Bank Swift transfer system, There is a fee but too long ago to recall what it was. Seemed all quite painless at the time so shouldn't be too much of a headache. Good luck.

Yes your Thai bank should be able to handle this rather painlessly. SCB uses SWIFT, not sure about the others. As for fees, i don't know about here, but to send from Australia to Thailand is A$30, so maybe prepare yourself for a 900 baht fee and you can feel rather pleased if it's any less.

I was always told money only goes one way, in and not out..I know thats the cynical view.

All banks usually do the SWIFT transfer so you just need the code of your own local bank, but be careful your own bank dont try the trick of also charging for the transfer.

I have transfered cash to the UK and USA many times and the women at the main branch of Bangkok Bank on Thapae road really know what they are doing. I always go there as it usually is pretty easy.

not done transfer from los to uk,was under the impression you had to prove you had brought it in at some time,or it was to pay for education fees abroad, but not 100% sure.

Use always SCB for incoming funds. Never stops to amaze me that I get credited same day here as debited in Germany. MUCH faster than a dull Bank to Bank transfer in Germany.

What is your visa, how much do you want to transfer and where did the funds come from (sale of property etc)?

Along these lines, do you have a work permit? Sign up with Bangkok Bank, give them a letter stating where the funds are generated from and you can do an international transfer on line. It takes about 1-2 days to get to my US bank.

I've transferred funds to both Europe and the USA many times using Kasikorn Bank. At the bottom of the International Transfer Form where it asks for "reason", you have to put "personal expenses". Cost: 1,200 THB Very simple.

I transferred funds for a hotel in Bali in to their bank account. They just sent me the number and I went to the SCB in the night bazaar. Can't remember the cost.

Mind you I have a account there. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
