July 6, 201214 yr Can you guys confirm if this wiring is correct? I'm pretty sure it is, but I'm a bit nervous when dealing with electricity. The plug I'm replacing is on a freezer. I'm sure the ground is correct (green wire). The blue and brown wires should be correct, but what will happen if they're not?
July 6, 201214 yr Correct. Remember with these plugs and with the green(earth) at the top., the brown is always at the right.
July 6, 201214 yr Yup it's correct. With the earth at the top the Live is on the Left looking into the socket. In reality getting L and N transposed is rarely a problem with modern appliances. You should try and get the live core under the screw more like the neutral is, a nightmare in these fiddly plugs I know "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
July 6, 201214 yr Correct, but 99.9% of the time there is no earth and you can put a Thai 2 prong plug in a socket either way round. So it don't matter which way round you do it here.
July 6, 201214 yr Author Great, thanks everyone. It works. I tucked the live wire under as much as I could. The plug has plastic walls to keep the wires from crossing, so it should be OK if it comes loose. Thanks again.
July 6, 201214 yr Another poor design in electrical stuff here. Those screws are awful much better the UK into a hole and terminal screw with the copper cable doubled over.
July 7, 201214 yr Another poor design in electrical stuff here. Those screws are awful much better the UK into a hole and terminal screw with the copper cable doubled over. yup, the UK is just plain better.
