Im 28 now but will be 29 in a month, I want to get there asap but just wanted some basic advice about the visa, do many people get rejected and I understand you have to have a certain amount of funds in your account which I dont have but could have via a transfer, do they check history of funds etc?

Hi there Martin ... Australia is a warm and welcoming country.

The people here on this Forum will try and help you.

What Visa do you seek ... there are many different types!

Do you have a University Degree?

What work have you a lot of skill in?

What Nationality are you?

Hi Martin, welcome to Thai Visa.

I dont know what skills you have... you still qualify for a young persons working visa. Subclass 417.

http://www.immi.gov....heets/49whm.htm... usually on this visa the turnaround is pretty quick and unless you have had a substantial criminal background it is pretty easy to get in.

Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417)

For people from Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan and United Kingdom.

Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462)

Information for applicants from Argentina, Bangladesh, Chile, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and the USA on holiday and work visas in Australia.

Funding... well naturally you have to prove you wont be a burden on the state. I have known people get in with much less but in general this is the recommendation.

" You need to have access to sufficient funds to support yourself for the initial stage of your holiday in Australia at least, and you may be asked to show evidence of this on arrival to satisfy immigration officials.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship regard a sufficient amount as being a minimum of AUD$5,000, although the amount may vary depending on your length of stay and how much travelling you intend to do. You should also have a return or onward ticket or at least the funds for a fare to depart Australia if travelling on a one way ticket.

Evidence may include a certified copy of a bank statement and an air ticket out of Australia."

Also enclosing the skills wizard if you do have a trade or a profession. http://www.immi.gov.au/visawizard/

Some more details would be nice.

Indeed; PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING

there are many types of visa, so please say which type you are interested in, and the more information you give about the circumstances of the applicant and sponsor, if any, the easier it is to give pertinent advice.

There are also tourist visas that you can apply online. It depends on your nationality. The information given by edwinclapham is very good for other visas. The only thing that I dissagree with is the outward ticket. The word is "may"The advice given by Immigration is that the person has to intend to depart before visa has expired.. I took my know wife to Australia on a 3 months holiday. I bought her ticket from Australia to Thailand after we had arrived in Australia I rang Immigration in Canberra and they gave me this advise. The only other advice is if you intend to work do not use a tourist visa. You could be subject to a baggage search and if resumes are found you will be most probably be deported.

Well Ive just completed the online application and at the end it has asked me for a chest x ray report and its film. They are about as clear as mud so I have no idea what to do. From what I can gather, I have to submit them both but the info online is so crappy I have no idea about its processing.
