Suspected Necklace Thief seriously injured during attempted escape in East Pattaya

PATTAYA:--A suspected Necklace Thief was critically injured as he attempted to escape with a stolen necklace and collided with an oncoming vehicle close to the Maprachan Reservoir in East Pattaya.

The incident occurred on Monday and resulted in serious injuries sustained to Khun Nigon aged 21 after he collided head-on with a Black Toyota Vigo driven by Khun Boonpen aged 43.

The suspected thief had just snatched a necklace from Khun Katchaporn aged 24 close to the Reservoir as she travelled to a local school on her bike in order to pick-up her sister. The suspect came up alongside her and attempted to snatch her gold necklace but was only able to take half of it as the victim held on to the necklace for as long as she could until it broke-in-two. The suspect escaped but was followed by members of the public who witnessed the event. The high speed chase came to an abrupt end when the suspect hit the oncoming pick-up and was left fighting for his life.

Instant Karma.

som nom na.

Great reporting, saw this on Friday afternoon, not Monday.

I like a story with a happy ending.

Serves him right, but it shows that having visible wealth might not be a good idea. I was in a taxi in a China traffic jam a few years back and a thief reached into the open window of the car ahead and ripped a necklace right off a lady's neck. He got away.

Yes saw this in north Pattaya ,guy on a motorbike reached into a baht bus and grabbed this Europeans gold necklace and got away .

why anyone wants to wear a large gold chain around their neck ,especially when they are in a vest and shorts beats me.

Same thing happened to my wife a while ago... she was riding on the pillion, drinking from a coconut. Thieve got the coconut in the face but managed to escape- without the necklace. Wife learned the lesson and doesn't wear any gold anymore in public.

Mr. Boonphen for president!

Gives new meaning to Fools Gold

We have a full details of everything that took place plus eye-witness accounts - yet he's only "suspected" of being a thief.

Looking at the state of the Vigo, I'm quite sure that it's owner wasn't too impressed by the outcome, even if most others were.

Not sure who to credit on this one, Darwin or Karma?

One of these days people will learn that it's pretty idiotic to wear gold, especially in today's world where it is worth so much.
