Hello all,

With the recent UK settlement visa rules changing, i am unable to obtain a settlement visa for my wife. We have a baby daughter due in November this year.

Obviously my family would love to meet their new granddaughter/niece/cousin and of course my wife.

My concerns are:

Am i likely to be able to obtain a tourist visa for my wife to come over and visit for say 1 or 2 months? I have a job and my own place etc, i just miss the settlement visa financial requirements by a small amount per year. She has a young son & business who obviously she wouldnt want to be away from for too long.

My concerns are, if they can see that a sponsor/applicant does not reach the requirements for a settlement visa, are they likely to grant a tourist visa (especially if its involving a wife and child)

hopefully ive explained my worries clearly enough!

Do you live in Thailand with her? If so, then you should not have a problem.

If you live in the UK then she will need to show why she does not wish to live in the UK with you.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I'm living in the UK currently. I guess in the application we just make no mention of her actually wanting to live here then!

Thanks for your help again :)
