Police Volunteer and Two Cambodians killed in North Pattaya shoot-out

PATTAYA:--A Police Volunteer and two Cambodians were killed in a shoot-out which occurred in North Pattaya.

Police were made aware of the shooting which occurred on the Song Pee Nong Mountain in the Takiendier area on Wednesday afternoon. Police Major General Jamnong, the Chonburi Provincial Police Commander led the investigation and began by inspecting the scene of the shooting where a Police Volunteer, Khun Siriachai aged 32 was fatally shot in the chest. Two Cambodians were also shot dead with a further three who are thought to have escaped before Police arrived.

Also involved in the shooting was the Chief of Takiendier Sub-District , Khun Montien aged 42 who revealed how he had come to the area with the Police Volunteer to investigate reports that a group of Cambodians, thought to be responsible for multiple cases of theft in the area, were living on the mountain. The Volunteer and sub-district chief found the group of 5 Cambodians and attempted to confront them which is when guns were produced by the group and shots were fired.

The Volunteer was shot and killed and the Sub-District Chief was able to disable two of the Cambodians. Police also found a hand grenade at the site which was later made safe. Police are now hunting for the three outstanding Cambodian suspects

One Cambodian arrested in Pattaya Police Volunteer shooting case

PATTAYA:--Following the fatal shooting which left a Police Volunteer and two Cambodians dead on Wednesday afternoon, heavily armed Police Units have been searching the area for the three outstanding Cambodians who were believed to be armed and likely to use their weapons should they encounter the Police.

On Thursday the Mountain area in Takiendier sub-district in Banglamung was searched and one of the Cambodians was found. Mr. Sawan aged 22 was unarmed and claimed to be a messenger for the group which included a responsibility to purchase food for the group on a daily basis. He revealed the group consisted of more than 5 people, but he was unsure of the exact size of the group.

He confirmed that more than 100 motorbikes have been stolen by the group in the last 6 months around the Pattaya area. Their motorbike of-choice are Honda Clicks which would be sent to Cambodia.

One has to wonder exactly what the "Police Volunteer" and "Sub-District Chief" were doing "investigating ... multiple cases of theft" and "confronting" the group by themselves - and subsequently shooting two of them dead, with the Police volunteer also being shot dead.
