My reading and professional advice contradicts the idea of making the gift outside Thailand.
I have read, and received, the opposite professional advice.
Actually, I hope you are right, because it is simpler. Regardless, I cannot see either way being an issue.
The only difference is the whether the remittance into Thailand is done by the donor or the recipient.
Not possible. For them to tax 5% , it would need first to be acknowledged as a gift for this rate to apply. Then, a gift has a 20M THB exemption.
Having said that, 1M on 20M remittance is still a much better outcome for the taxpayer, than paying normal PIT rates on 20M!
Won despite all the fake news, leftist social media, gaslighting, leftist academics, DNC, corrupt political lawfare and convictions, censorship, constant barrage of lies, dire predictions, and name-calling, rewriting of history, pandering vote-buying, divisive racial and gender politics, assassination attempts, illegal attempts to keep him off the ballot, no voter IDs in blue states, and a $1 billion campaign chest buying Beyoncé, Oprah, Lizzo, and Bruce Springsteen to get people to Kamala's rallies.
Incompetent small-town mayor who couldn't fix a pothole. Do nothing and a failure, just another DEI hire. Might need to go on maternity leave again. Doesn't have a prayer and even moronic Dems put him at the bottom of their list.
I suffer from IBS and my doctor prescribed me 10mg amatryptaline for long flights so that I don't have to keep going to the toilet. You maybe know that Amatryptaline in larger doses is an antidepressant but has a side effect of calming the bowel. So it is prescribed and works as such in a a lower 10mg dose. It also seems to work with me as a sedative and over 18 years has always helped me sleep on my flights to and from Thailand. And It is available over the counter at pharmacies in Thailand. My flight routine is a can of beer before the in-flight meal, a glass of wine with the meal and then take my amatryptaline with 400 mg ibuprofen to kill the pain of the sleeping in seat yoga...555.
Opinions differ, and your opinion is as good as anyone else.
My experience with asking questions on this (and many other) forums is that I would get 80% of the answers giving TOTAL BULL... or not the the point.
These answers would mostly be posted by people who spend their miserable lives sittin on a barstool with a phone logged in into ASEANNOW in one hand and a pint on other hand.
That's all they can do living in the "beautiful" Thailand.
I have also learned by experience that when I want to have useful information, I take my phone and send an email or a message to the relevant websites (DLT Korat) and get accurate information.
If one actually wanted to dine with expats, one would simply go to the CM Expat club breakfast.
No need to interview with anonymous internet whackjobs, no need to prove allegiance to bizarre internet conspiracy theories, no reason to reinvent the wheel.
Since I want to be positive, I'll state that I'm positive that I would never accept an invitation to a group as described in this sad, sad thread.
