Martin
One to two years ago, there was mention on here of a village that had a lot of farang husbands living in it. I seem to remember they were mostly Swiss, and it was in the southern part of Issaan. I think a lady Professor had published some research into the economic effects that had resulted from several of the Thai ladies of the village marrying farang husbands. But I can't find the topic that it was in. Can anybody give me any leads to it, or tell me if they remember it too, please.
Gazza
Try this link. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/3907581.stm There's been a couple of threads in the forum about this village but I can't find them in my files at the moment. From what I heard from someone who had been there, the village does not resemble a swiss village. It's only named that because of all the Thai villa type houses that've been built by Swiss guys. Martin
Thank you, Gazza. That sounds like the village that the research was done in. Maybe the Roi-Et Governor saw mention of the research, too!! If you come across any other links, they would be much appreciated. Thanks again, Martin. Gazza
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...034&hl=ban+jaan http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...854&hl=ban+jaan A few more links. I do remember the topic on the survey of farang-Thai marriages in Issan that you're looking for but still can't find it. Maybe a few keywords from the articles in the above links may dig up something. Searching is a bit on the slow side on 56k.

Too true, about the tedium of searching without broadband. But, I guess, it is a small price to pay for peace and quiet and glorious sunshine in January!! (And am I ever glad not to be having to pay for gas to heat the house---some of my friends in Britain are really finding that to be a strain this year.)
