What is all required to cancel the work permit when someone quits their job? What needs to be done and by who and are there any time frames in which things need to be done?

I do remember reading once that when you cancel the work permit, you, the foreigner, are supposed to receive a receipt of that, that should be kept by you, correct?

Take Work Permit to Labour office, fill out standard form as to why cancelling. Bring copy of passport. They give you document, immigration could request. Should go immediately, and if your visa is tied to your employment, it may have ended also, check that, so that you are not on overstay and don't realize it. I f you can get document from employer stating end of employment, does not hurt., but not absolutely necessary. Just write one yourself to Labour telling them your job has ended and you must cancel W.P. if they ask for anything like that.

My visa is not connected to my wp, as i have a non imm O marriage visa.

I'm sure my company would do the cancellation, I just want to tell them

what could be expected and would have to be done.

Also, if there is some receipt that I am supposed to get and hold, then

I want to tell them to make sure I get it in the end.

What exactly are you referring to when you say "Should go immediately"?

WP should be cancelled on last day of work.
