A friend from the UK will be entering Thailand from Cambodia at the Had Lek border crossing.

it says he can stay in Thailand for 30 days but I seem to recall that at some point they changed things so if entering by land it's only 15 days.

So is it 15 days or 30 days?

Entry by land without a visa gives you 15 days, was changed a while ago. The link you posted is for flying in only.

15 days by land border and 30 days by Airport arrival.
