Have I Avoid All Branches Of Bkk Hospital Or Not?

Featured Replies

Hello!

Heard horrible stories about the scam in the BKK hospital (not sure which branch exactly, suppose BKK Pattaya Hospital). Like a patient got unnecessary heart surgery, another patient came home and realized, that his jawbone was broken by dentist, etc. I personally had bad experience at the BKK PTT branch: they charged me for 4k baht for ear cleaning, I started to bargain - they dropped it to 1700! Then they send me home and gave me outdated antibiotics, so I couldn't recover till my wife noticed, that medicine is outdated and bought same from closest pharmacy shop for cheap.

So - I recommend my friends to avoid use of this hospital branches. Am I right?

I had surgery at BKK Rayong a few years ago and cant say enough good things about the hospital, I get my dental work done a BKK Pattaya and cant fault the service to date...no broken jaws that i know of

those stories you heard...you know them as fact or what some one told you on a bar stool as one of the great Thailand Urban legends ?

In you case of the antibiotics did you go back to the hosptial and complain and get an explanation from as to why ?

I have had no problems at all with BKK PTY hospital and have been there frequently over the last couple of years including my daughter being admitted for 3 days a couple of months ago. Though the pharmacy charges can be quite high there, both the doctor I see and my daughters pediatrician have asked without being prompted if I would like to buy medicines outside the hospital.

I can't comment on the quality of their service.

But, I was surprised, the company that runs Bangkok General Hospital owns most of the better known private hospitals and hospital chains around the city, including BNH, Samitivej, Phyathai and others... I was talking with a staff person at the hospital recently, and she told me her company also recently acquired a smaller stake in Bumrungrad as well!!!

Soutpeel: my friend found that stories at Thaivisa and other forums. I'm not an analytics kind of person to spend time and find them, that's why I'm asking here.

Guys, I don't ask about positive experience. It shows nothing. Some people leave houses opened here for years and claim that there aren't crime in Thailand at all, but we all knows how many cases of robbery here. By the way - some of them still didn't hear about that cases or don't believe to facts.

On the subject of ear cleaning - I have a regular build up of wax which requires syringing about every six months.

Unfortunately, unlike in the west, Thai GP's will not undertake this service and you will always get referred to an ENT specialist, so it's going to be a bit expensive, relatively speaking.

However, for the past 2 years I have had my ears done at Pattaya Memorial hospital in Pattaya by a visiting ENT doc (you have to call to find out when they will be there) and the cost is around a 1,000 Baht, give or take.

They have always done an excellent, pain free job and clearly know what they are doing.

As far as BPH is concerned, well I have made my views on this hospital often enough - as have many others, so I suggest the OP just check out the myriad threads on this subject if he wants to know what most people think.

At the end of the day, you should seek the best specialist for your problem - not the hospital, but certainly I would be very wary of the very high costs and unnecessary procedures that are frequently charged/undertaken at BPH

Mobi you can get the same doctor and the same treatment at Pattaya International Hospital and save yourself the "russian" surcharge . Just call and make an appointment

Mobi, great idea to think about exact doctor, not hospital.
