Like most people, your Sino-Thai inlaws will be worth that amount at least, so I wouldn't worry.

Need more info. on your personal situation.

Where in Thailand? Family? Lifestyle? 487 million will probably enable you to go out a few nights a week. If you have kids it will allow for them to go to a reasonable international School in Bangkok.

Bear in mind most of us expats living comfortably in Thailand have close to 1 billion US in assets invested in the west.
