SantiSuk
Next Saturday we of Ubon HHH will sample the delights of our neighbouring province's capital, SiSaket Town. Lots of interesting new places (wine/women/song?) to explore for the Ubon contingent and we hope that a few, or even lots of, friendly locals will take the opportunity to join us. We are a small friendly group who do not take this running thing too seriously. Most walk the 3 or 4 click trail that is typically marked out by a 'hare' in advance (but you are equally welcome to run it and get back to the bar soonest). The trail will take in a few sights and possibly the odd improptu beer stop. At the end of the trail we have a more few drinks, sing a couple of silly songs and generally commence the socialising. A few of us will certainly be staying the night and, after a quick repair for a shower, we move on to a bit of eating and then some serious nightlife exploratory work. Say no more! Despite what it sounds like, we are not actually hardened drinkers and soft drinks are not at all out of the question. Nor are we an all-male hash (there are some and boy do they get down and dirty); wifes, girlfriends, sisters - all welcome. So that's the advert. Please do come along Sisaket-ites! Now the detail. We will meet at Frank's 'Living in the Past' Bar (subject to me asking him nicely this week!) on Wichit Nakhon Road at 4pm on Saturday the 4th and aim to set off at 4:30pm. Normally the hare does not disclose the end point, but in case anyone wants to join the action late, if you turn up at Cuckoos Nest by 6:30 pm you will probably find us. Transport will be arranged back to Franks if anyone has left their car there. For those who sensibly want to stay the night, I am recommending (sort of - on the basis of a quick room inspection today and a couple of lovely smiles in reception!) the North East Hotel on Th Sisamung Soi 6 (Tel: 045615777). Basic but clean and bright modern aircon rooms with 5 foot beds (or 2 singles) and cable for 350 baht. If you want posher (or wifi) consider the SP hotel close by or the Kessiree. Useful thread here: The farang fee for the run including drinks on the run is baht 250/150/150 for an Ubon Hasher/Virgin (never done a hash before)/Visiting Hasher (1st visit). Cheaper for children and Thais - we actively encourage a broad base. Any other questions feel free to PM me. By all means PM to say you are coming but you can equally just show up! Finally, for those who don't know Sisaket I will assume you can find it, but here's a map once you are inside it. http://www.sisaketinfo.com/map1.jpg Franks Living in the Past is easy - top right (grid G1) Cuckoos Nest is where the circled no 7 is located (grid C4 - attributed to Coffee Si'Ket on this old map) North East Hotel is identified as H3 (grid G6). Other hotels are also marked on the map legend The map is not drawn to exact scale - for info, North East Hotel is about 1 click from both Cuckoos Nest and Franks LitP. The whole place is eminently walkable and has the quaint cyclos (before 6pm). See you there OnOn Flash Git/Santisuk/Steve Hare (and general factotum)

SantiSuk
Due to a miscommunication ("phone the hotel and book me a room and check whether they still have plenty of availability, say for 5 rooms on Saturday, please teelak") I now have confirmed bookings for 5 rooms (double bed) in my own name at the North East Hotel on Saturday night. Doh! Anyone want one of the three remaining? PM me full name and telephone number. No deposits required. Responsibility for cancelling then becomes yours. Otherwise I'll cancel the spares tommorrow afternoon. Have realised it is a holiday weekend (and Ubon's candle festival brings hordes into the area) so best not to leave it until the last gasp. SantiSuk
Is Sisaket going to be dry on Saturday? I'll defer the hash by a week if so. Still on for this Saturday 4th, folks, until I get clarification. I'll check in Sisaket tomorrow but what happens in Ubon often happens in SS. bergen
Good hash in Sisaket. Some never came and some turned up unexpectedly. Good after hash in the Cuckoo's Nest with tasty burritos and more cold beer, and Brian and his family were friendly hosts. All in all a fun day in Sisaket, and I'm sure there'll be another run some time in the future, maybe once a year?
