loong
I have been to various suppliers over the last few months and many places that I have been to, when they ask my nationality, they ak me if I know Mr. Martin. Apparently he is an Englishman who farms organically in Ubonrat. From what people tell me he is well respected and liked and even appeared on television. He speaks fluent Isaan and has ben farming in Thailand for about 15 years. Has anyone heard of him or actually know him? Seems that he is quite famous around here. jamescollister
Not sure if it's the same guy, but there is a English guy somewhere that farms like a Thai, has been on TV and gives lectures to farming groups, Think there is even a threat on here about him, seem to remember some debate over his policy not to teach his kids English. May not be the same guy, sure someone who has retained more brain cells then me will remember. Jim

David Peters
I was a little confused with the opening post stating an Englishman from Ubonrat. Now I know. The Ubonrat dam near Namphong, near Khon Kaen. Yes, Martin is well known in Isaarn. I first heard him talk on radio about 10 years ago here in Ubon Ratchathani. Lives a simple live. Calls a shade a shade. Radial ideas. I won"t say much more but I couldn't live like him and I would want my children to be as well educated as possible to make their own life decisions. Mosha
Just my 2 cetang, but not teaching his kids English, is going to limit the opportumities. FWIW I have a mate back in England who hasn't let his kids learn Thai from his wife. I don't think that's good either.
