July 29, 201214 yr Hello all Currently I hold a Non O visa based on marriage, which I show the money in the bank. This has been fine for me up until now. Most years I spend time working in England and have arrived back in Thailand to renew the extension, which is 11 Nov. The 11 Nov is a real pain due to my work commitments here in the UK it would be much easier for me if it was Jan/Feb. So my plan this year is to return to Thailand in Oct using my single re-entry permit and then go to Laos (Savannakhet) and apply for non o multiple entry based on marriage. So walking out of Thailand on my current visa extension would thus cancel the visa I have now, apply for the non o multiple entry in Laos based in on marriage wait a day or two collect my passport with new visa and then back to Thailand. Can this be done? If it can apart from all the paper work require is it as easy as this? Can anyone give any advice?
July 30, 201214 yr If you expect to be in UK beyond the 11 Nov your extension will expire you should easily be able to obtain either a single entry (allowing extensions 60-90 days after return) or a multi entry for use for a longer period. But yes your plan to depart without re-entry may work but Consulate may not understand as that is not something they are familiar with so they might just see the active extension and refuse visa issue.
July 30, 201214 yr Author Thank you for the reply I will be thailand when the visa extension expires. the problem being for me is that with the marriage visa extension it takes 1 month for the application to be processed and it could within that month I have to return to the uk. If I was to go to Laos it would be on the last day of my valid extension I have now.
July 31, 201214 yr If you go to Laos on the last day of extension should not be a problem as visa is not issued until the next day. You may also want to use the 60 day extension of stay at times which is immediate approval (to visit family) if a visa run is difficult.
