Does Anybody Pay More To Have Their Passports Renewed?

Featured Replies

The cost for a UK citizen renewing their Passport through Hong Kong is 6,272 THB (£128), plus a courier fee of 973THB (£19.86).

Total 7,245 THB.

In the event you are able to renew it back in the UK the charge is only 3,797 THB (£77.50).

Does anybody pay more for this service?

Its an overseas service charge imposed by the FO

I think he means do any other nationalities pay more. I doubt it, the British embassy is known for being very expensive.

Here are all of the passport fees results listed alphabetically by country: Australia $180.00 Austria $88.29 Belgium $179.36 Brazil $140.00 Bulgaria $106.60 Canada $165.82 China $47.50 Croatia $38.53 Czech Republic $29.77 Denmark $101.68 Estonia $36.27 Finland $116.21 France $112.42 Georgia $20.21 Germany $74.52 Greece $66.69 Hungary $88.35 Iceland $81.43 India $21.38 Ireland $101.05 Israel $56.68 Italy $107.30 Japan $182.33 Latvia $53.30 Lithuania $21.88 Luxembourg $75.79 Malaysia $187.56 Malta $88.42 Netherlands $125.30 New Zealand $211.07 Norway $70.39 Poland $43.28 Portugal $151.57 Romania $69.72 Singapore $115.67 Slovakia $46.35 Slovenia $45.47 South Africa $21.65 Spain $37.89 Sweden $105.56 Switzerland $132.31 Taiwan $36.00 Thailand $61.60 Trinidad & Tobago $78.74 Turkey $642.11 United Kingdom $109.26 USA $135.00

The ironic thing is we Brits pay all that extra and send to Hong Kong who in turn process the application which the passport is then issued from the UK at twice the price

And don't forget the new fees as from September, which will see the price in the UK reduced to 72.50GBP for 32 pages.

Beeno2274 I am not too sure of your info mate.

I just found this from the Aussie site.

https://www.passports.gov.au/Web/Queries/Fees.aspx

1 January 2012

These application fees are: Adults Child Passport Ordinary

Includes diplomatic and official passports A$233 A$117

Frequent traveller

If you are a frequent traveller you have the option to apply for a frequent traveller passport which contains more visa pages than the Ordinary passport.

Plus an extra A$103 if you want it within 48hrs A$351 A$176

my post was taken from a website, but on checking it was from 2010. (wooppps)

But then 180US for an Aussie Passport that now costs the equivalent of 234US, is a big jump.

Rip off Britain likes to keep up it's reputation of ripping off particularly those real Brit's that move out of the country. It's a spiteful way of getting back at us for not living in the old country and being bled to death daily by being taxed into oblivion.

i had to pinch myself to make sure i wasn't dreaming - "the uk reducing something"

I see the 48 page has also dropped by £5.00 to £85.50 ( for people applying in the uk)

I wonder if we will see this decrease here in Thailand? Although does not affect me as my passport is due for renewal in 2022

All that money, you think at least they would have retained the black with gold embossing on cover.

Another EU directive no doubt

Americans get to hold onto their passports for 10 years whereas Canadians are good for 5 years. Now I'm

starting to feel cheated..
