Embassy Internal Process

Featured Replies

Howdy folks.

Does anyone know what the internal process is inside the Embassy? Specifically the Australian Embassy, but I suspect that most embassies would work the same internally.

For example, from the time you submit an application, role of the case worker, etc, and who makes the final decision on an app, and whether that person is in the embassy at the location the app was submitted, or whether it is sent to, say, Australia for consideration. :D

Just interested is all, got some time to kill. :o

Cheers

All applications lodged in Thailand are considered in Thailand. Most applications are lodged at the Vfs office, the case officer is at the embassy, the case worker would make the final decision and fianally..the time for the application process depends on what type of application you are making.

Do you mean the case officer makes the final decision?

I seem to recall our case worker telling us that her boss made the decision. Is there one case officer per case worker or does the case officer have a team of case workers? Or is there only one case officer for each visa type or something like that? Just trying to understand the organization inside (or lack thereof). :o

This is in regards to a spouse visa, specifically.

From my experience with a permanent visa application, the case officer does all the footwork, asks all the relevent questions and makes a recommendation to a superior officer, an Australian, who either rubber stamps the recommendation or requests follow up information.

If the application is considered complicated, a higher ranking Australian case worker takes the case over from the Thai case officer, but the final papers still go to a superior officer for approval.

These officers operate from the Bangkok Embassy.

As there are no qualified medical practicianers at the embassy, the medical examination papers sent to the embassy by Thailand hospitals, are referred back to Australia for verification.

For all tourist visa applications, the final approval is given by a lower level supervisor, usually Thai.

Yeah you could be right there....I got that mucked up.....The case officer will recommend, but a senior person would rubber stamp it....thanks for correcting my stuff up. :o
