Weird Experience At Suvarnabhumi

Recommended Posts

I missed my early morning domestic flight with my girlfriend and I remembered there was a day room in the airport so I asked my girlfriend to ask these two security guys where it was so we can stay there until the next flight. They ended up convincing her to go to some lounge for 1500 baht which I hesitantly agreed to. Some guy came and escorted us to a van where we drove for about 10 seconds until he is waved over by the police.

We sit in the van for a few minutes until I finally decide this is weird and to bail so we get out and my girlfriend asks them what happened, the police said his plates were copied and we walked away and got a room at the Novotel. Nice room but really expensive for only a few hours. I wonder what would have happened if we made it to where he was taking us.

His plate is copy means it's not the official plate from the transport ministry without the official seal if i am not wrong.

Did they recommended you to get into a hotel instead of the lounge ? Their recommendation might be the right move just bad luck with the car plate.

Easily get off with a fine !

There are two (2) day-room facilities within Concourses, one is on level 3, Concourse A, another is on level 4 Concourse G. The former would have been accessible for you, the latter is is in the international air-side location and thus not accessible for you as a domestic pax.

There have been a gazillion threads here re: hotels nearby to SBIA.

Copy plates are a common occurance. Not that serious. Happened to me. I bought a new Ford Ranger truck and unbeknown to me the dealer put fake red plates on because they had 'run out of genuine red Government plates'. I got stopped on the motorway by the cops. Got my licence confiscated and a 7000 Baht fine and given 7 days to rectify the problem then allowed to carry on my merry way. Naturally, I handed the whole priblem back to the dealer to sort out. They went and paid the fine, got my licence back (& put genuine reds plates on). No big deal really. Happens all the time. Not enough genuine red plates in circulation, so this is the 'dealers get-around' by using their own fake plates and copping the fine if they get caught.

  • 2 weeks later...

You let ask your Thai GF security guys for directions and information?

And drive you to a obscure Lounge?

Possible they wanted to bring you to a Thai Business Class Lounge.

Or wanted to do something "different"???

Entrance to -BC- costs money, if you are not flying Business Class. But by car?

Anyway, I would not ask Security personal-they usualy do not know much, but the Information desk and I would not believe that my GF is capable to do such a task succesfully. ;-)
