my wife is 20 months into her settlement visa in the uk.

could someone be kind enough to give me some pointers of what the procedure will be in the coming months for moving on to ilr. i realise she needs to pass the life in the uk test first. her english is excellent although she has no credentials to confirm which level. she has a permenent job in the uk.

Don't worry that it says 'partners who applied on or before 8 July 2012,' this refers to the date of the initial visa application made outside the UK.

As you may know, the rules have changed considerably w.e.f. 9/7/12; but these changes only effect those who applied for their initial visa before that date.

Your wife applied for her initial visa before then, so she will come under the old rules.
