Hi guys,

Apologies if this has been posted many times before.

I arrived in Thailand (Koh Samui) on the 20th of July from the UK with the intention of only staying 4 weeks. I was therefore advised not to worry about visas as I would receive 30 days no questions asked etc. Things have changed and i plan on staying 2 more weeks (total 6 weeks). I have read that i'm able to extend it for 7 days only at 1900 baht or do a 'visa run'. Im pretty clueless regarding the whole situation and would like some advise if you kind folks could help? What would be my best and cheapest option?

Cheers, Pete.

A quick border run will give you 15 days from date of entry back into Thailand (counting that day as 1), an extension from Immigration would cost 1900baht if I remember correctly, and you will need another 7 days after to complete your time here.

You need to leave the country and re enter to get another 15 days by land.

Or 30 days by air.

From Samui most go to Ranong and enter Burma or go south and enter Malaysia.

There are organised trips from Samui.

One alternative to sitting on a minibus all day is to fly to Penang, Malaysia with Firefly.

6300 baht return ticket.

This will give you 30 days or you could apply for a tourist visa while in Penang for 60 days that can be extended by 30 days.
