This question is in regards to the tracking stages of VFS with an Australian Tourist Visa application.

GF submitting her Tourist Visa application last week. The night of applying she got a text saying that her application had been forwarded to the embassy. She was also able to log into their tracking website & it states the same thing as her text message.

My question is what happens when the passport is returned to VFS for collection. Will they send a text message to my GF stating that her passport is ready for collection? Will they update their website tracking system stating the passport is ready to collect? Will they call her when it arrives? Or will VFS wait for my GF to contact them to see if it has been returned?

If they do contact her (text or website or call), will they let her know if she was successful in getting a visa, or simply tell her that it's ready for collection?

Hi Secretariat,

In all my fiancees cases, a text and email was sent saying that her passport was available for collection.

No comment is provided on whether the application is successfull or not. They leave you guessing.

Good luck

Yep, my wife's visa application was like this too. I subscribed to the SMS alert service, thinking they'd let us know each step of the way - including whether it was successful or not - but only got the following three texts: "Your visa application reference no. XXXX will be delivered to the Australian Embassy on the next business day." "Your processed visa application has been received at the Australia Visa Application Centre and is ready for collection." And, as we were ripping open the sealed envelop in the taxi: "Your processed visa application has been collected from Australia Visa Application Center on 8/10/2012 2:03:13 PM"

I was actually concerned enough that it was stuck on the first step, that I emailed them asking if it was normal; their reply confirmed it is.

Thanks for the replies. I mistakenly thought that the would be more text / email updates besides submission / ready to collect / collect.

I think it's funny how the VFS website mentions "The service supports transfer of SMS in English/Thai and assures an applicant of his/her equanimity, with convenience at their finger tips"

I'm not so sure that they achieve this during time between submission & collection. VFS even told my GF that she'd have her passport ready to collect only 2 days after submission! So it was left up to me to tell her that they were incorrect to tell her this because this was way too fast, as well as VFS not controlling the time it takes the embassy to process the application.
