Thai To Reduce Bangkok-trang Fights

THAI to reduce Bangkok-Trang fights

BANGKOK: -- Thai Airways International will reduce its flights between Bangkok and Trang from seven trips a week to two only and assign its low-cost Nok Air airline to fly on the route instead.

THAI deputy managing director Wasing Kittikul said the reduction of THAI flights for the route was necessary as the airline had been accumulating loss for Bt60 million a year.

He said THAI would maintain only two trips on Fridays and Sundays but specific time of the flights would have yet to be specified.

To compensate for the reduced trips, Nok Air, a subsidiary of THAI, would increase the number of flight on the Trang route from seven to nine trips a week, he said.

Thai really is in trouble if it can't make money on this route. Every time I've flown the plane has been full or close to it. Quite a few times I haven't been able to get a seat on the day I've wanted.

Also the overnight train Trang-BKK is often full....sometimes it can be quite difficult to get out of Trang.

Hopefully Nok will be cheaper but if there is high demand they probably won't be.

That's cool - there's nothing in Trang or surrounding areas!!!

did anyone notice that AIRASIA is starting to fly to KRABI soon ? I didnt see any announcement from the airline or any reports in the press...... but they have tons of 599 Baht - seats available on their homepage at the moment..... another option to go South
