Mozzies - Looking For A Solution To Breeders In Puddles & Pools Near Our Moo-Baan

I live a bit out of town in a modern development. Over my back wall is the next development - but most of the lots are empty. With the rains, a few nearby empty plots have pooled and there's a plague of mosquitoes brewing. I'm tempted to buy a few gallons of insecticide, a pair of Wellingtons and do the necessary.

Is this the right move? Or should I complain to the management of the neighbouring moobaan (assuming they give a dam_n, which I doubt).

And if go with the DIY insecticide and Wellies, where can I get this kit?

Thanks for your considered advice.

Why not use good old-fashioned kerosene (paraffin - UK) and spread this thinly on all water surfaces?

It's not toxic and is much safer for you and the environment.

It prevents the swimming larvae from breathing and it's quite effective.

Listen to this, this is a perfect answer.I would only add , a couple of drops are needed and it will spread itself.

If the puddles are more or less permanent one could throw some live fish in there. They will eat as many larvae as they possible can. If you use guppies, which are live-bearers and very prolific, you solve the problem permanently. But, if they are just temporary puddles, the wise solutions from other posters are the ticket.

There is also "Temephos" its a sand with 1% concentration of that poison to kill larvae and stop any breeding.

the health authority gave us many sachets, you just put half a teaspoon into your pond or your houseplant trays, anywhere some stagnant water. It keeps them clear for a month at a time.

can get them up Suthep Road at the health authority building just higher than the big hospital pharmacist (opposite kasikorn bank)

but the tennis racket more fun!
