One of our Australian employees that has been working with us in Thailand for over three years needs to change his current visa from a 30 day toursit visa to a Cat B visa. (He has a valid work permit and he is on a tourist Visa because his Cat B Visa expired while our accounts were being audited so we did not have a certified P&L and Balance sheet to allow him to renew his Cat B visa blink.png A TIT moment ). Immigration in Chengwatana are stating that he needs to provide an Embassy certified copy of his education certificates. He does not have any education certificates as he left school at 14. However, he has been working in a very skilled technical job over the past 20 odd years and his knowledge in this area is extremely difficult to find. Suprisingly he has never needed to provide any education certificates for his work permit (Samut Sakorn).

So here is the question: Does anyone know how he can change his visa in Thailand from a toursit visa to Cat B visa if he does not have any education certificates?

Obviously while he is on a tousit visa he is not working smile.png

I would simply state that he doesn't have any educational certificates, and have the company give him a letter testifying and explaining that fact.

The police orders for extension of stay do not have a requirement for a degree or any kind of education certificate. If he can get a work permit he should be able to get his extension.

Have a look at clause of police orders 777/2551 and 306/2551 which can find by going to pinned topic on page one of this forum.

If they will not do the conversion then he will have to go to a nearby consulate and get a new visa showing his work permit and other required documents.
