This may be best directed to some of the long time stay expats on the forum.

A cannot remember name..... I think from Chiang Mai, but not sure.

Back around 1992, when everyone who played or was interested in shooting pool, the big name was James Wattana. About the same time there was a boxing hero, who all, who followed boxing would be talking about.

Now my old mind seems to be missing a connection...... Who was this guy , and whatever became of him

Thanks

Yes the two Galaxy Brothers.

Khaosai and Khaokor if my spelling is right.

I remember Khaosai getting married he and wife had a special personal Blessing by HM.

My wife and I lived in Buri Ram at the time and Khaosai, used to park his Ferrari outside his Girlfriends house which was just around the corner.

I think Galaxy was a bit earlier..... The guy I am trying to remember was just young and upcoming in the early 90's ...... somehow it strikes me that his name started with the letter P....

This was the big fighter [thai] at the time when the old Bar Beer Center was big behind Domino's.

Not sure if he ever fought there or not...... thanks for Galaxy but someone else.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

or if you are deaf

Wasn't he the first Thai Gold medalist in Olympic boxing?

Somluk has tried his hand at a number of other things. He was a gold medalist in boxing at the Olympics in the US. Everything went down hill after that. He opened a moo krata (pork hotplate) type of place with a number of branches. I don't know if any are still open. He has tried acting, singing and the last time I heard him he was commentating the recent silver medalist's fight (Kaew Pongprayoon). He was really funny. If you understand Thai you should listen to the tape of the bronze medal fight of Kaew.

Was famous for snooker. Managed to get in the top 10 for a while a number of years ago. But his form dropped and he is no longer much of a name in the sport now. Talking of names, he tried changing his for better luck but it didn't work.
