PM pushing for fight against corruption

BANGKOK, 18 August 2012 (NNT) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has shown her strong stance against corruption during a government event to raise public cooperation in anti-graft activities.

Prime Minister Yingluck on Saturday presided over the opening ceremony of the project to fight against corruption at CentralWorld in Bangkok. The event is intended to suggest to the public three channels where they can file corruption complaints—the complaint boxes nationwide, Hotline 1206 and www.stopcorruption.co.th. All the information and complaints sent via these channels will be first submitted to the prime minister and later forwarded to agencies concerned.

The anti-corruption project has been designed by the government to ensure transparency in the operations of civil servants, put the country to good image internationally and raise investors’ confidence. It corresponds with the government policy to create immunity against corruption for the Thai society and establish the right social values. With a focus on transparency in the public sector, the government expects that social mechanisms will help in the punishment of wrongdoers.
