Pattaya police are getting ready for high season. The "Pattaya police station has seen a reduction in forces from 500 to only 300 police officers, more volunteer police were asked to join them".

They have reduced the the police force by 40% from 500 to 300. They will try to make up the difference with volunteer police. That's a frightening thought that the "not so highly qualified" BIB will be replaced with new volunteers. Vigilante justice from the volunteers will probably take control and more street beatings of perps should curb the trend of increasing crimes. I feel safer already.

Every unit to spend more time on the streets enforcing traffic laws, and also to help subdue crime in the area. Traffic enforcement provides a great way to "collect" more fines making up for the reduced police force and protecting everyone from riding without a helmet or a noisy exhaust system. The tourists should feel so much safer now. What about aggressive and reckless driving, speeding, double parking, driving against traffic, running red lights and unlicensed children and adult drivers?

They have checked out 1000 prostitutes and ladyboys. They have been aggressively monitoring ladyboys and prostitutes, and checking their histories for any drug substance abuse. That's a good start, only 30 to 40,000 more to go. That 100 baht fine has really worked wonders in clearing them from Beach Road. What about a 1,000 baht fine the first time, 2,500 for the second and 10 days in jail the third time and so on? If the Pattaya monkey house isn't big enough then build a special fenced-in tent city like they have in Arizona.

Police are hoping the increased monitoring will help reduce the problem of snatch-and-run thefts. I didn't know that "hoping" was a police preventive measure. What about the low life thugs that carry guns, sell drugs, murder and commit major crimes in Pattaya, Naklua and Jomtien? Oh never mind, they only have 300 officers now and those groups of volunteers. Anybody ever noticed that the volunteers look very similar to a pack of agressive Soi dogs.

Just curious, but do the volunteers get "paid" by soliciting back handers?
