Nowadays it seems I get more and more fines at home averaging 400 thb, with pics of license plate and sometimes I see myself driving in the pic.

Ive heard and read more and more cameras are being used as well. My question is, can I keep speeding (120 kmh instead of 80-100) without getting a fine with the help of some kind of detector making beeps more frequently when u get more near to their lasers and cams?

I found so many online, but I don't know which one works 100% in Thailand. Any recommendations/reviews based on own experience would be really helpful!

Thanks in advance folks!

I'm happy with my Whistler Pro 78SE

It features X, K, Ka, and Super Wideband Ka Detection, 360° Protection against all types of Laser, Instant-On (Pulse) Detection, Detects POP Mode, Ka MAX Mode

I could be wrong, but I don't think the radar/laser detectors work with the cameras.

Where are you that you are getting pinched so often?

I think most of the traps don't have any kind of actual speed measuring device, I think they just watch for people in the right lane and wave them down.

Also, they generally are not very creative and seem to always in the same spots

My detector has been a great asset during its use in the areas between Pattaya, Korat, Chiangmai and Ubon. It easily detects the older style radar used by highway patrol which is normally discretely set up about 1/2 km before the road block. It had no problem detecting the small radar camera on tripod in use on the Ubon ring road.

Where did you get it and how much was it?

JaiLai, bought online shipped from the US a couple of years ago. Just over $100 I think. On the thai language forums there was someone else selling them online from Korat.

ubonrthai, seen it twice about a year ago early morning. A camera on a tripod. The same as the Bahrain traffic cops use. From 226 intersection heading towards the ring road bridge/issan restaurant they had it on the central reservation just before the road kinks to the right. There's a big tree in that area and I think a bus/jeep repair place across the road.

I've only seen the camera on tripod setup on motorway. Once being set up by a cop who had a Tiger mc for transport and twice a lone guy sitting in the middle between the armco barrier under a nice shady bridge!

Are they legal in Thailand? I seem to recall reading somewhere probably a thread here from years ago - that you could be in a heap of sh*t if you get caught with it!

Maybe you could respect the speed limitations to reduce the tickets ?

No I can't respect them because it's not like I'm driving 200 or something.

If you need to respect everything in Thailand regarding traffic it will not only costs you more money but also a lot of your time.

Driving within the speed limit will not always work. There has been at least 2 occasions recently where I was pulled over when I know I was not speeding. One cop backed down but the other would not. Sometimes the BIB just need more pocket money.
