Lamphun - Blood Group B Urgently Needed

The father of one of my former students is quite ill and has lost a lot of blood. He needs donations, if you are so inclined and have Group B Blood. From her info the Hospital is simply called “Lamphun Hospital,” and her father’s name is Jamrat Moontan. On her Facebook post I’ve attached below she suggested the times of 9am – 12 noon as best, but that could have only been for that day.

She’s only about 25, so I can’t imagine her dad’s more than about 50-55. Poor guy. I hope he pulls through. I don’t have any more details for you right now, I’m sure the family is stressed. I’ve tried to get through by phone for better details but so far only a quick yes and thanks from her via Facebook is all I got from her about posting this.

“พ่อยังต้องการเลือดกรุ๊ปบีอีกจำนวนมาก บริจาคได้ที่รพ.ลำพูน เวลา9.00-12.00น.

Thank you very much my teacher. My dad is very bad. Dad name is Jamrat Muntan.”

Hospital Name: Lamphun Hospital -

Blood Type Needed: B

Dad’s Name: Jamrat Moontan

I'm type B positive but I have diabetes type 2, not sure if they would use it.

Yeah, beyond me to answer that. Thanks for being willing. If you find the time, go check it out. I'm hoping a few of the people from Lamphun will just see this n go donate. I know there's a good enclave of biker Farang and a few teachers out there too.

Sawasdee Khrup, Khun RealThaiDeal,

Good on 'ya for this ! If you can get the Rh. factor, positive, or negative, and exactly what tyoe of serum donation is needed (whole blood, plasma, red blood-cells), and post that, it will help people know if they can donate, or not:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type#cite_note-rbccomp-61

http://chapters.redcross.org/br/northernohio/INFO/bloodtype.html

If the man has Blood Type B+, he can (potentially) receive:

1. Whole blood from B+ or B-

2. Plasma from B+, B-, AB+, AB-

3. Red-blood cells from B+,B-, O-, O+

If the man has Blood Type B-, he can (potentially) receive:

1. Whole blood from B-

2. Plasma from B+, B-, AB+, AB-

3. Red-blood cells from B-, O-

But, as Wikipedia disclaimers, there can be: "atypical antibodies that would cause an incompatibility between donor and recipient blood, as is usual for blood selected by cross matching." Type O- blood is still considered as a suitable donation to those with any blood-type.

Can someone confirm this address is still correct for the Chiang Mai Red Cross Blood Bank: Thanon Rachapakinai: 18°47'32"N 98°59'59"E : http://www.farangfriendly.com/pages/map2.aspx?c=15806 ... thanks.

Can someone confirm this is still the CM RC Blood Bank's phone number: 053-212537 ... thanks.

Age, any history of cancer, recent chemotherapy, recent dengue, malaria, etc., to my knowledge, can also be a criterion in rejecting an individual donor.

In any case, serologic testing may be required, and should be done, since there are rare anomalies in the matching system, and I'm sure the doctors at Lamphun, or the Chiang Mai Blood Bank, will know exactly what is required.

First things first, sad to say, but student's father has just passed away. So... no more need for donations. Thanks to anyone who saw this and inquired or went.

We used to have a CM Blood Donations group on Facebook, but it went away when they converted their formats. Anybody else want to start one ? It could be a handy thing when one of us or our loved ones is in time of need.

K. Orang. Yes, right on about the Rh factor. I could tell she was distressed on the phone when I did get ahold of her. Wasn't able to glean that info. Everybody should have n know that information. I went and donated a few years back and got a card I keep in my wallet now. Happy to know I'm O+, of original hunter caveman lineage.

realthaideal, sad to hear!

I have type "O" and I don't think I have any disease. Please point me to a place in CM where I can occasionally donate my blood to help!
