I just read this in Chiang Mai City News re a pilot scheme for bar owners.

I think the number 3 new initiative is...........well........very thoughtful.

I wonder why no-one thought of it before?

The Governor of Chiang Mai ML Panadda Diskul and Police authorities met JJ Market's business people to discuss this new initiative. The main points discussed were:

1. Bars should close at 1p.m.

2. No person under the age of 20 is allowed to drink alcohol or be served alcohol.

3. A crackdown on carrying weapons in particular guns and knives. Also a crackdown on yaba.

4. Bars should limit the amount of loud noise - disturbing the local neighbourhood.

The Governor of Chiang Mai welcomed this new scheme and should the pilot scheme be successful it may be implemented throughout Chiang Mai.

No. 1 - good, this midnight closing silliness is well...silliness.

No, 2 - works for me, but then I'm a gazillion years old

No. 3 - so tempting to take a shot (so to speak) at the NRA on that one but, how will I cut my steak?

N0. 4 - the little bar that is about 60 meters from my balcony (3rd floor) has never been a problem (well, okay once in 6 months). They make a little noise they stop, it's all good.
