HI All

Heading back to Chiangmai so my wife can visit family.

Was thinking of staying at the above hotel as it is in a good area for the kids, although a bit worried about how old this hotels rooms my be looking as we have not been in CM for 5 years now.

Has anyone stayed there or got an alternative hotel that is good for under bht1500 a night?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

If you are not too fussy about noise, the M hotel at the start of the Sunday market is great

For Nimman area try the yantasari resort ...

Both are great mid range hotels when they run specials and normally below 1500 baht a night

Hi Lawrence

Thanks for your reply.

I like the look of the Yantasari but i checked on AsiaTravel.com and called the hotel and they were both quoting over 3k.

What site do you normally book through?

The Pang Saun Kaew Hotel is adjacent to Kad Saun Kaew which might be convenient. It also has a large swimming pool on the roof which might keep the kids occupied. The M hotel has raised its prices considerably (over 3000 baht a night) and doesn't have a pool, but it is very conveniently, especially if you are staying for the Sunday Walking Street.

pang suan kaew is fine. i stayed there during last year loy krathong. the lightings and decoration is alittle dim and dated but still look very grand. bell boy and staff there are very very friendly

personally i would not chose m hotel if i have kids or elderly along, at times there are afew shady people

If you like that general vicinity of the Lotus, then just across he road, I suggest the Dome. I stayed there a few months, much more personal, and i think only 600/700 a night. No pool, but you can always walk back over the road if you need a pool.

But there are many saller boutique type hotels/guesthouses between Sirimangklajarn and Nimmen road, very select and still under you price bracket.

With due respect ;the Lotus/orchid are the 2 big ones, heavily marketted on agoda etc and catering for the worldwide tourist, so their prices are high for what you may get, and standards lower..
