This is from a Phuket Gazette Article: http://www.phuketgaz...ticle16610.html

In line with Thailand’s policy of banning the sale and purchase of alcohol before an election, the sale of alcohol will be prohibited island-wide from 6pm Saturday, August 25, to midnight on Sunday, August 26.

From another news source:

Also prohibited in Patong Municipality from 6pm on Saturday, September 1, to midnight Sunday, September 2.

the bars & clubs will be closed. we had to change the date of a charity dinner at work from tomorrow night until tonight so that alcohol could be served.
